Theists always say stupid shit like that. Makes them feel better for being assholes who think fairy tales are true.

Whenever there's a debate on intelligence between theists and atheists, I always wonder which side I'm on, having been a theist for the first 25 years of life and an atheist for the last 20.
I would prefer to just believe that theists are brainwashed, programmed, whatever.
Same as a guy who smokes or a woman wearing high heels.
Not stupid, just brainwashed by their habitat and culture.
One of the things I like about here is the very large number of Atheists who are tolerant of theists and at least give a person a chance.

Well if there's anything Randy has taught us it's that they've certainly mastered the art of copypasta.

The site said "Religious people tend to be geniuses/smarter people more often because they can think outside of the box and find loopholes and different scenarios where their claims would still be accurate"
I was wondering if there was any truth to this.
On one hand, the reasoning for believers supposedly being "Smarter" than non-believers actually seems to make sense in this statement(not that it adds any validity to god existing).
On the other hand, i've yet to come in contact, or see a person that fits this description.
The bolded part seems to be the exact opposite of what theists generally do. there is no "thinking outside the box" and the only loop holes they use are ones long since refuted and no new ones arise to replace them. There is one poor soul here who still clings to Aquinas's proofs.
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Considering the success of a no talent twit like Joseph Smith and the establishment of his 'church', I'd have to think all other religious adherents in the world would have to have IQs in the low 4 figure range to make up for all the zeros the Mormons add to the calculation.

I've read articles stating the opposite, citing studies that claim atheists score higher on tasks/tests that require critical thinking...and that atheists are smarter. Other than make someone feel smug for 30 seconds, does anyone actually take any of these studies seriously?
