Reopened, I deeply apologize for the delay Sad

It's 0245, and my brother didn't have the guy stay (you can tell me and my brother ain't related Dodgy ). I am all kinds of in need of water, and I don't know what's next... is it sleep? Is it tooth hygiene before bed? Is it a can of pus-filled Spaghetti O's?

Only clark will tell.

I have nothing to say, and I wasn't sure where is the right place to tell everyone...

This is the right place Alex.
Since you've got nothing to say, tell us how bubba is doing, the move, new job?

I had trouble falling asleep last night. I went to bed at 11, and realised that at midnight, I was having trouble. I realised I was overheating and a lot of the heat was on my head. So, I took my clippers with a #2 razorguard to my head and sheared myself.

So, yeah, at 2 AM, I found myself repeating this scene from Napoleon Dynamite:

Fortunately, since this is standard operating procedure for me when I feel my hair's too long (except for the doing it at 2 AM part), I'm not really as ashamed of it. I usually wear a Fisherman's Cap when I go out anyway.

After finishing it off and brushing my teeth again for good measure, I found I finally was able to fall asleep.

I once got up in the middle of the night with a skull-rending migraine,
raided the freezer in desperation,
and sat for a long while on the kitchen floor with two bags of frozen peas clasped round my noggin

...but that was for pain, not heat.

That moment when you're not sure if you're having just an HSV1 'outbreak' in your mouth... or if it's the fearfully irritatingly HSV2 finally caught up to you.

Well, you'll find out on Monday, I guess.

... Which is to say, me. Heh Smile

What's fascinating about HSV is that they are DNA viruses, so by accident they can insert themselves into one's gametes and be passed on in the germ line as a part of human DNA. It's been observed to happen a few years ago, but I think the virus DNA breaks very quickly as it is passed on to following generations. I also don't know whether the integrated HSV dna can produce virions, which would be freaky.

Or so I've heard. Can insomniac biologists please clarify?

... At least I don't have to worry about 'passing it on' through my genes... not that it's going to matter whether I do or don't: 90% of america'll have HSV1 by 2050. It's ridiculously easy to catch, and most people get it in childhood. I'm not concerned with transferring that to anyone (unless they tell me they've NEVER had a cold sore, in which case, well... I respect their choice with the information).

But... if I have an oral case of 2? I'm going to laugh long and hearty and cruelly bitter.

Not because I wouldn't have assumed I'd have it by now... but that I could have picked that up in the last year or so, finally, as an adult, with a full understanding that I have a 1 in 6 random shot of receiving it (and far far higher in reality, considering the nature of the person(s) I would have been involved with in that time).

Still, it's another thing to deal with, if I do. Course, there's not necessarily any indication that I *have* picked it up... just, that was a far nastier outbreak than outbreaks usually get.

TLDR: Sorry, i'm not a biologist. I'm just kinda tetchy at the moment, thinking about things that would annoy me.

I'm so wiped out.  I don't know what's wrong with me.
I'm not a high-energy person to begin with,
but I have been sleeping well, at night, recently,
yet today I had three separate naps and still feel tired.

Maybe I'm getting sick.

I have an assignment that's due

my sister is coming home for thanksgiving and its going to be stressful

there's an election coming up and I despise all the candidates

I miss the 80s and 90s I was blissfully ignorant then, my biggest concern was what to wear on Friday night

my thumb is throbbing

MTL, I think it's time!

It's time to let the lord into your heart. All will make sense once you accept him...

(Except for the thumb bit, that was a carving accident!) hehe
