The problem with killing off main characters is when you don't have suitably compelling characters to replace them with. In the early seasons we lost Dale and Shane, but gained Maggie and Hershel. Now Hershel is gone and we've got... Abraham? The show doesn't feel like it's elevated some of the smaller characters to the prominence they would need in order to carry the show forward if people like Maggie or Glenn died.
That's why I'm not sure they'll kill Glenn - not because he's an original survivor on the show, but because.... who are they going to replace him with? Eugene?
