Mine is a strange one. See what you can make out of this.

Some purportedly "non-denominational" church with a strong emphasis on being "born-again" and a strong Arminianist framework and the belief that one can live a practically sinless life after being "born-again". Personally, however, I was always questioning those beliefs and considered myself to be more of a Calvinistic type.

I've been a Roman Catholic. And I didn't leave the church because of it's clergy, but because the whole story didn't make any sense to me from an early age on. Starting to have doubts at 7, I would guess, and stayed another 20 years, despite getting more and more detached.

My parents divorced when I was three, so I was raised Lutheran (my mom's side) but attended Catholic mass when visiting relatives on my father's side. Dad only attended his local Catholic church now and again because he was barred from receiving communion due to the divorce, as I recall.

I lost any vestige of faith in Christianity young, so I doubt my "religious background" will prove useful or instructive. However, it might say something about the children of divorced parents. It's hard to take an institution or its representatives seriously when they make outrageous claims that I'm supposed to take on faith when my everyday life furnished plenty of examples of the adults closest to me (people whose love and concern for me was never in doubt) having feet of clay. Skepticism came easily to me.

I attended Pentecostal services most of my churchgoing life. I did a little church shopping in the later years, hoping that finding a more quiet and contemplative denomination might help me shore up my wavering faith. I wound up attending an Episcopal church my last few years before I stopped going altogether.

Raised Methodist (which I checked) but did a few year stint with the Unitarian/Universalists ~1980.

Judging by that poll, the Catholics need to get their shit together! I endured 9 long, miserable years of Catholic school with daily mass, prayers and religious classes. I guess my parents wasted their money!

Lutheran. However, I suspect that my parents would have attended which ever church had the most influential towns people in it. Church for them was more for show and business than faith.

Edit: I just noticed Mormon/LSD. Is LSD correct? If there is/was a church of LSD and I missed the train I'm gonna be very downhearted.
