I wouldn't call smoking cessation medication an indulgence...  lets just say that it's not likely to be abused for recreation.

So it it just the smell or do you even "taste" that flavor somehow, like with normal smoke from tobacco?

The vapor has taste.  It depends on the flavor you choose.  I used to go to the local vape shop and try a bunch of flavors and then go order what i liked online.

The feel is different.  If you can find a vape shop you can just go try it.

Yeah, I like the strongest stuff, like Marlboro Red, so I imagine it would be hard to get accustomed to e-cigs if what you're saying is true. I literally can't even smoke a cigarette that is too low on nicotine.

I didn't mean it that way. I see it as an easy way out which I'm not willing to take just yet. Of course I'm thinking about possible side effects, mostly.

I'll look for some local ones. You're saying it's better if I try out the product right there before buying it and that certainly makes sense but at the same time is it impossible to get good stuff online on the first try? Just wondering since somebody else suggested I do that, I think.

I guess that I went online first, because at the time, we didn't have vape shops nearby. A vape shop is good, because you can get an idea for what you like. With vaping you'll find that reports on taste will vary between people. A vape shop is a good way to find out what you like. We did have a shop open up locally, and I have been meaning to stop by, but my limited past experience while traveling and visiting a couple of shops, was the juice was not as good as what I had.

in my experience, the vape shops let you try the flavors not the equipment.  They just give you a crappy 'test' battery and there's a bunch of tanks loaded with the various flavors and you can sit there and try them.  As for the devices, there are some options with high output that might work for you.  They burn through the liquid pretty fast though.  If you can find a shop, the people there will be able to show you what's what.  The customers too; the shop I frequented became a kind of hangout to show off vape gear.

I've been vaping for 3 or 4 years. I highly recommend sub ohming versus the traditional mods. The traditional mods are too finicky and differ widely from brand to brand. I've used 5 different sub ohm mods and sub ohm tanks and its pretty consistent accrossed the board. Get yourself a nice 30-50 watt mod and a cheap sub ohm tank. The hit's pretty harsh but you can drop it to 30watts and use low nic. 3-6mg should do nicely.

The key to sticking with it is to find a flavor you like and forget about finding an exact cigarette flavor, just enjoy it as a new thing. Just like quitting cold turkey, you'll have to get used to not gettin that light headed buzz from the poisons. Once you get passed associating the buzz with nicotine, you'll start to notice vaping working at satisfying your nic fit. Then you're off to the races!

I suggest getting the 40w eLeaf iStick with literally any sub ohm tank you can find. The iSub tank is $20 so I recommend that.

ETA: I forget the biggest thing that helps me stick with it. When I first started, there were zero vape shops around. It was all online. It was so much easier to go to the gas station and pick up a pack. You neeeeed to make getting your juice and coils as easy as buying a pack of cigarettes. Find a few locations and work them into your schedule.
