Who is excited about the new Star Trek series?

RE: Who is excited about the new Star Trek series?
The Next Generation was my favorite series. Least favorite would go either to Enterprise or the original series. Kirk was a buffoon. I tried to like Enterprise but it never really got to me. I liked both Voyager and DS9.

Best Captain:

1 = Picard, of course.
2 = Hathaway
3 = Sisko
4 = Archer
5 = absolutely anyone else before the sweaty, horny and arrogant guy.

I named my kid Jadzia! That is a Trekkie geek! Tongue

Could never get into the "Next Generation" and got burned out on "Lost in Space" x "Gilligan's Island" er... I mean "Voyager" (though 7 of 9 kept me watching for an extra year).

Yeah that's Trekkie, but do you know how to make a good Romulan ale?

Nooo!  I agree with your list except Kirk has his own cheesey, hammy totally unique charms and deserves to be 2.

You must....think harder....about this...list.  haha

"The Visitor" is one of the most poignant episodes of television - not Star Trek, but television on the whole - I've ever seen. Everyone gushes about TNG's "Inner Light" (and rightfully so, since it's a beautiful episode in it's own right), but "The Visitor" is just a superior episode. More personal, more tragic, more touching.... Jake's choice at the end, and Benjamin's reaction to it are just heartwrenching.

I don't usually get emotional while consuming media. "The Visitor" had me this close to blubbering like a baby.

One of my favorite episodes of all time has to be The Siege of AR-558 from DS9. It's a good war episode.

TOS had that nice cheesy 60's feel but some absolutely amazing episodes. Remember that episode with the giant space amoeba, or the one with the Romulan and their new weapon? Or how about City On The Edge Of Forever? That one was brilliant!

Don't watch Star Trek the Animated Series, unless you're a super geek. It's terrible. I've seen them all, there's not much to offer.

As for the movies, aside from 3, all odd number Star Trek films suck, and only First Contact is entertaining as far as the TNG movies go. I also don't like the direction the new Trek films took. I don't care that it's an alternative time line, but they turned it into an action flick rather than a drama. I don't like that at all.

That's because the idiot who made them neither particularly likes ST nor is intelligent enough to understand what it is about...

Pretty much agree with you Mark, except to say, I was young when watching the TOS, and some stories were clever, so one needs to take kirk in the era he was shown.
I agree, he is a root rat, but he summarised the 60's and 70S well. As society evolves, so do script writers.
But analogue dials and no circuit breakers on the NCC 1701A was a very poor design job even for a 10 year old watching the series broadcast for the first time!

With circuit breakers in the consoles, the Federation would have crushed the Romulans and the Borg before breakfast. Easily.

I can see why. Talking about the sweaty, horny and arrogant guy, have you seen your wife lately? And dare you do anything about it?
