Stupidest religious clothing

RE: Stupidest religious clothing
Oh, yeah.

That fish hat is ridiculous.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

To be fair many clothing worn for many reasons can seem stupid to outsiders who don't understand it.

I thought I was an outsider. I don't want to understand. Just cause I think it's stupid does not mean that I won't tolerate it. Well, to be truthful, some I don't tolerate.

It depends on why people wear them. Some things may be stupid. But others like some people wearing shirts with buttons and other cultures wearing polo shirts it's just a matter of preference and what people are used to. I have a girl in my uni who wears a scarf that doesn't even cover the whole hair and she quit being a Muslim, but she wears it because she is used to it, kinda like people who wear hats continue to wear hats.

Yeah, while searching for the pictures I came around some really sad ones like this one
[Image: d85d61f3f03f79018addffdf00bb27a5.jpg]
pope benedict putting on ordinary white hat with some logo, near him some younger priest laughing at it
Can you imagine how pathetic your life must be to find it hillarious that some ancient asshole puts an ordinary hat on his head.

Or this one
[Image: 36ff93470d531d30758b76cfdf578d2c.jpg]
very old bishop dressed up like bride walking. behind him young priests walking and only carrying his scalp hats
It's not enough that they dress up like idiots but what a waste that men in their prime years instead of training their brains with science and making this world a better place have to be brainwashed and carry some old asshole's stupid hats. And also you can see they have strict policy of short hair, no beard - like some sort of fascism.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

All of them.

According to their holy text, their god made them all naked. That actually makes some sense because people aren't born with clothes on. Yet, they all make sure to cover (particularly their women) as much as possible. Going by Adam and Eve (the biblical story, not the sex toy shop), the snake got off pretty lightly for tempting Eve with the Apple. "You will crawl on your belly all of your days. Oh and you'll eat Dust (and mice. You'll also eat mice.)" Earthworms crawl on their bellies, and unless the bible is missing a story about them pissing off Yahweh/Allah/Jesus, they didn't do anything to deserve it. So the whole idea that it's the responsibility of people not to tempt others is a bad concept in the first place. Even going by their religion.

It's fine to dress modestly. People should dress (within reason) how they want. But I think it's stupid that it's considered the woman's fault if a man lusts after her. It's similar to victim blaming when people say "Well if she didn't want to get raped, she shouldn't have worn that skirt in public." It's a bit misogynistic, and as my husband says it's also misandry because it assumes men can't control themselves.

This... garment.

Not even knocking women who choose to dress modestly. You can tell when it's a choice and "empowering", there are some hijabi (head covered but not face) Muslim women who have actually made some pretty sick fashions out of dressing modestly, using bright colours and modern pieces. That's a woman who has found empowerment in modest dress and I respect that. I don't see how being dressed in a black curtain from head-to-toe can possibly be considered "empowering" though, it completely strips your identity away.

I just find the face covering excessive and an identity issue, especially in Western societies where not showing your face is considered anti-social.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

Sadly, I suspect quite a few of those en-robed women are rightly fearful of not precisely following the dress and code and getting raped as a result.
