Thou shalt love thy goat

Not that surprising really, this kind of thing happens sometimes. Workers at the zoo went to feed Amur (the lion), but the goat instead ended up befriending the tiger (or perhaps becoming his pet). The goat was subsequently named Timur, and now sleeps in Amur's bed, forcing the tiger to instead sleep on the roof of his bed's shelter, and it likes to follow the tiger around the enclosure as you'll see below:

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

I guess the tiger just didn't register the goat as food because he doesn't usually get fed live goats?

I must say, after reading the title, I hesitated a bit to click on it. But I was pleasantly surprised!

No, that's their normal feeding practise.

Ok then. I don't even know. Maybe the tiger got lonely. That's odd. Then again I've seen people with pet deer, so it's not compeltely unheard of.

Its because the goat wasn't afraid.
Sometimes if an animal has a total lack of fear response the predator will fail to register it as food.

The tiger noticed the goat was a top.

That may be it. No fear response to provoke feeding.

Makes sense, but it raises the question of what happens when they put the next goat in the tiger pen (tiger gotsta eat). If the second goat evinces fear and the tiger eats it, will the original goat become fearful, thus triggering the tiger's predatory response?
