To think of humans as resources, might be a helpful thing economically, but not so much when you go outside of it. There might one day very well be trillions upon trillions of people spread across the galaxy, that wouldn't diminish the value of a human life in the least. You are using economic terms to talk about the ethical implications of weighing one human life in a world where there is as abundance of it. We're still talking about sentient beings here.
