WWIII
Do you think the world is ever going to see a third world war? How would you see that happening? How could we prevent it?

RE: WWIII
It might. America has been expanding military for a while, and it doesn't look like it's stopping. I've heard some people say in the past that we need a big military in case other countries gang up against us. Except that having an overbloated military and an expansionist mindset, is what might cause it.

ISIS might be a part of it too, between Russia and Iran fighting against it, and Turkey fighting against the groups that are fighting ISIS. As far as I know they haven't come out as being on their side, but they're doing more damage to groups fighting ISIS than they are damaging ISIS.

Chances are, we're going to be right in the middle causing WW3. Not preventing it. The military industrial complex would love it if WW3 happened.

I can't see Europe losing against the U.S. if that were ever to happen, but maybe I'm just biased somehow.

I can't imagine it though, western forces fighting against western forces. It seems kind of ridiculous and unlikely at this point in history, no?

During my formative years we pretty much expected nuclear war at any moment. It seems that with these little terrorist inconveniences people have forgotten that for decades nuclear Armageddon was only ever minutes away. Will there be another world war? probably, will it be nuclear? maybe not. people seem to be unwilling to press that button no matter the provocation.
I see proxy wars being fought and spreading but never coming to full scale nuke attacks. As The The wrote all the little wars start joining hands.

RE: WWIII
I think we might be unwittingly entering a world war three right now. War has changed, so it'll never look like WWI or WWII but there are currently 18 wars going on in the world, two of which involve Russia, several involve the US and all of which involve Islamic extremists (minus the drug war in Mexico). At what point does that tip over to being considered a world war? 30 wars involving Islam? 50? It's just the face of it is entirely changed.

It is amazing. France and Germany have fought each other for ages, centuries. There are people alive who were part of WWII. Now it's almost incomprehensible to imagine them fighting.
