What's the best way to refute the argument that we were intelligently designed? I've seen the bit that Neil Degrasse Tyson did on it, but what else can I put into my arsenal? (More specifically, about how complex flowers are and other things in nature)

Usually when they want to use that argument, they basically argue for deism, then make a giant leap from "creator god" to "my theistic god". How do you get from "the universe needed a creator" to "Yahweh/Allah/Jesus is lord"? You could google a long list of creator gods that people have worshiped, so all you've done is narrow it down to them at best. And they're not just different versions of the same guy.

By pointing out the evident sub-optimal 'design' we see around us. If human beings were intelligently designed, then it becomes pretty tough to rationally explain things like cancer, tooth decay, vestigial organ, or our obviously close relationship to other primates.
