Electromagnetic waves cause brain cancer ?

RE: Electromagnetic waves cause brain cancer ?
That just sounds unlikely to me. Waves of a few GHz such as wifi or cellphones produce a small amount of heat and a bit of electricity and that's basically it. I don't see a plausible mechanism for causing cancer.

My feeling is that excessive exposure to highly intense EM waves might be a reason for brain cancer, as it happened a lot in my country, people who live in a building underneath a cell-site/mask do get brain cancer more often. One can tell something from the correlation alone, right ?

The world has been living with electromagnetic waves everywhere for at least 100 years, and such wave-producing gadgets have an inverse relation of clustering around wealthy people. So then, why has there never been a heavier proportion of rich gadget freaks to incidence of brain cancer?

You may not believe this, but I actually had an aunt who died of brain cancer, and she didn't even have a cell phone. Then again, nobody had cell phones then. Rolleyes

Certain EM waves do cause cancer. Considering that gamma rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, as is visible light, and a bunch of other things might i add. (And gamma rays do cause cancer. They're also good for removing it too. Strange how that works.)

(Yeah, i know the conversation's more about mobile phone related EM waves, but because of lack of specifics, it's still valid).

The American Cancer society says there is no link, after numerous studies on cell phones and the towers.

This is what Gamma does to you.

You may want to be a little more specific then "electromagnetic waves".

You brain and your skull both put out quite a bid of electromagnetic waves just by not being at absolute zero.

Indeed.  And those photons are far more energetic than the ones in radio waves.  You are irradiating me with your flux !!!

I think I'm going to sue !!!!

We use X-Rays to treat cancer, not gamma rays, though gamma rays are certainly energetic enough to cause cancer. I'm not sure we have a way of shielding a gamma-ray source for irradiating a patient accurately.

I remember the same type of scaremongering when microwaves first became available, now everyone has one and nothing has changed.
