I got a notification from GOG that MYST is now available.  I was tempted to see if I am still useless when it comes to video games but decided I would just be mad all over again at my inability to get anywhere in the game.

The old Myst is from a time when screen resolution was low, and so it suffers from image quality issues compared to modern titles. They do sell a remake of Myst (real Myst?) which has been updated using a 3D engine and other enhancements. I haven't played it, but by all that I'm told, Riven is an excellent follow-up to Myst.

I'm busy doing my usual bouncing around. I installed Iron Hearts IV last night and fired up the tutorial which basically starts out, "There are a bunch of things on your screen. Spend some time playing around with them until you've figured out what they do, and then click 'continue' to proceed to the next step in this tutorial." I'm not impressed.

I had respect for the Quarians until me3, so I allowed their fleet to be destroyed in favor of Geth Independence.

I haven't played Andromeda, so I can't comment there.

But I can see putting ME2 at the top as far as the original trilogy. The first entry was clunky... it was finding its footing. ME2 found that footing. I rather liked the first's rough-around-the-edges feel... but I also enjoyed the streamlining of the second.

ME3 kind of took what ME2 did well and put some polish on it. It wasn't the vast improvement ME2 was over ME1. Furthermore, ME3 was a wasp's nest of disappointment. I think players would have been more satisfied if ME3 was half the length but took more effort to incorporate the choices made in the previous two games. Like, the only tangible difference between saving the Rachni or dooming them is a few lines of dialogue. And then there was the ending...

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying there are good reasons to put ME2 at the top.

j/k... I personally love challenge, and don't mind repeated deaths. But RPGs should always have an accommodating easy mode for players who aren't into all that.

Further reflection of the ME trilogy:

It bothers me that there were no viable gay romance option until ME3, especially when the same game company made gay romance a viability with the very first DA game.

In ME1, Kaiden is only a romance for the female Shepherd, but he's suddenly a gay romance option in ME3. Talk about consistency. ME1 was easy, though the squad choices could have been better.

ME2 was the worst in the series, and my mind cannot be changed regarding this fact from my personal gameplay. There was an abundance of squadmate choices, but the ease at which one dies even on casual mode ruins the experience. I can never replay the series from the beginning due solely to this section.

ME3 was the best as far as overall gameplay and storyline is concerned. My two concerns are the lack of squadmate choices and the lack of Leviathan involvement in the endgame war.

Currently replaying Andromeda, the fourth game in the series.

Playing the tutorial in Farming Simulator 2019. It's pretty good. It reminds me of mowing the greens at the golf course when I was younger. Though it left a few details unfilled. I wasn't sure whether to raise the implement at the end of each row before I turned around. I just assumed so. And I missed that I needed to turn the sower on, so I went back and forth and back and forth and didn't sow any seeds. Easy enough to fix.
