Meaningful ideas and quotes
RE: Meaningful ideas and quotes
“Man did not weave the thread of life. He is part of it. Whatever he does to the world, he does to himself.” (Chief Seattle)

Somehow tonight I misread the title as "Meaningless ideas and quotes." I think either could work.

"The things you think about determine the quality of your mind. Your soul takes on the color of your thoughts."

It reads like a truism until you realize just how many thoughts cycle through your mind without you even realizing it, and without ever considering the subtle impacts they might have on your overall psyche. Most of the time we do not realize that we are thinking ourselves into a negative space, and it overwhelms our entire life.

Lao Tzu Wrote:When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.

Being and non-being create each other.
Difficult and easy support each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low depend on each other.
Before and after follow each other.

Meaninglessness and meaningfulness define each other, too.
They are part of an inseparable whole...
Hold on to the center Wink

No offense to *Diedre* or anyone else, I've had the same meaningful/meaningless flash when seeing this thread. I like your quote, VL!
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

“The world is so exquisite, with so much love and moral depth, that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with pretty stories for which there is little good evidence. Far better, it seems to me, in our vulnerability, is to look death in the eye and to be grateful for every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides.” (Carl Sagan)  Great

'Kids should be allowed to break stuff more often. That's a consequence of exploration. Exploration is what you do when you don't know what you're doing. That's what scientists do every day.' - Neil deGrasse Tyson

'The problem is not scientifically illiterate kids; it is scientifically illiterate adults. Kids are born curious about the natural world. They are always turning over rocks, jumping with two feet into mud puddles and playing with the tablecloth and fine china.' - ibid
