If it's out of a sense of revenge, yes. If the only option at your disposal to stop the killer is to kill him, then it is just. It is depraved to kill when you don't have to or deliberately causing unnecessary pain and suffering when doing it.
^This. Killing is only ok as a last resort for keeping society safe.

That was the rationale for getting us in up to our balls in Iraq!

We've kept society safe by preventing this PoS returning home when ISIS inevitably falls.

Yes, I think his killing was justified.

I thought this happened like a year ago? I can't follow this
Anyway, good riddance. I can't even pretend to come in with this softy "death shouldn't be celebrated", this is a psychopathic madman whose death we should all be thankful for, anyone could have been next on his list. In a typical situation I'm against the death penalty, he wasn't a typical situation, he was extremely dangerous and the world is a better place without him in it.
Jail? Imagine the affect he could have had on the other prisoners, not only violence but potentially Salafi indoctrination for when they get out. No, he's better dead.

I understand the type of revenge thinking that drives people's emotions in this type of situation, the man was a sick murderer after all, but killing him with drones only gives ISIS another martyr and more political ammunition to fire at 'the evil and decadence of western democracies'. He kills, we kill in response; that makes us just as bad, doesn't it?
A big, public trial to highlight his atrocities followed by a full life sentence would provide us with the ability to demonstrate why his so-called 'messages' (aka. killings) were examples of the worst kind of inhumanity and then rob him of his chance for everlasting glory.
'Dead men can't talk' and now we've missed the opportunity to use his incarceration to send a powerful message in opposition to the death and destruction he advocated.
Considering the fact that the Repubs whined like babies at the thought of conducting terrorist trials in the US the best thing that could have happened was to blow his butt sky-high with a missile.

The US thought they killed him in a strike, and they definitely did but they couldn't confirm it for sure since apparently Jihadi John was thought to have a body double in the event of drone strikes. But ISIS have since confirmed it, obviously.

Should have captured him and then let the families of his victims have a couple of hours with him.

A lot easier said than done.
