The Communist Manifesto should be required reading in high school, if nothing more than to ensure proper use of the term communism.

Can you give your opinion of it? To be honest from my experience on this forum, I've had more people defend communism and Anton Lavey than anything. Clearly this is something that you are passionate about, and I really want to understand why people support communism. Socialism is a bit more palatable for the people to swallow, and democratic socialism sounds even better, but in the end, it's just an extension of the deeper belief system. That being said I don't think Bernie is all bad. Where did you get that from? Bernie had a range of jobs in his 20s, including teaching and carpentry. Anyway, I think it's ignorant to say Bernie is a closeted communist because he runs on a platform of democratic socialism. That's like saying conservatives are closeted fascists. From his former friends. http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2...ont-119927 http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2016/02/...il-age-40/ http://www.investors.com/politics/editor...our-money/ I would say we really need to investigate his past to understand what he is today. Just listen to people that have gone through communist reeducation camps for one would be a good thing. They still exist today mainly in China and North Korea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfv9SvXNXdU Honestly the biggest supporter I know is a guy who is an old friend of mine, who still lives in his parents basement in a nice house, that for some reason just wont leave, even though his mom calls him welfare. Neither China nor DPRK are communist. China is a neo-feudal oligarchy with the worst excesses of capitalism masquerading as communist. DPRK is a religious theocracy, they've even deleted all references to communism from state propoganda and laws, replacing it with the religious ideology of juche.

So to all Trump voters, Kusa and Wyrd of Gawd ...
Be honest now. If Trump is elected President, will this wall get built and will the Mexicans pay for it? Do you honestly believe that this is the case? Do not confuse Stalinism with communism. Stalin basically used the popular idea of communism to make himself Czar, It was communist in name only. If you can boil down communism to a bite size snippet it's "everybody working together for the common good". In this system there should be no rich and no poor everyone would have approximately the same wealth and worth. Peasants found this idea appealing fought for it and Stalin corrupted it with Mao etc thinking that that was a good idea backed of course by Stalin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism Quote:In political and social sciences, communism (from Latin communis, "common, universal")[1][2] is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money,[3][4] and the state.[5][6] You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. With regard to communism, you are not experiencing the views of atheists so much as international views. Wecome to the whole world. America's moderate democrat, is Europe's conservative. The U.S. is uber conservative by western standards. But socialists are still not communists any more than capitalists are libertarians. People who like chocolate don't necessarily want to drown in it. As to why people support communism, ideally it's a perfect system. Ideally, there would be no government, and everyone would work for the common good. Unfortunately, it's also an impossible one. Most people do not work for the joy of working although a few do---few of them are plumbers, or ditch diggers. Not all work is fun. Governments may be overthrown, but they don't whither. It's been tried both before and after Marx. The results have been economic failure and totalitariansm. Neither is Marxism, but both appear to be the result of attempting Marxism. I think the belief communism will work is as much a matter of faith as Christianity. I'm a capitalist because it harnesses man's basic selfish instincts for the common good. But monopolies, the tragedy of the commons, and externalities require regulation. Like democracy it is the best of all the rotten choices.

I'm a socialist where it comes to infrastructure and defence, all utilities and essential services should be run by the state, non-vital services and luxuries should be purchased from private industry. The trouble is when governments try to run the country and services like a business. it isn't a business. It's why essential bus routes get get because they are unprofitable. Profit should not be why they are there. they are a service. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis. |
