What are the numbers of Ryan vs either Democrat?

From an outside perspective there doesn't seem to be that much difference between Ryan and Hilary. Both corporate through and through, business as usual people.

The world does need visionaries to push the frontiers, there is no question of that.  But.  It also needs government regulators to keep them from thinking they can run the world.  Much as the slave who rode in the chariot of triumphant Roman generals whispering "Memento homo" you have to watch these bastards like hawks and remind them that they are "only men."

Sanders is a socialist

Sanders isn't a socialist. Not by any civilized standards of the Western world.

Btw, I always keep wondering what it is with Americans fearing even the word socialism like the devil. It seems like calling for being fucked up the ass deep and hard, since the ones crying loudest usually aren't the one's profiteering from a purely capitalist system.

Socialism was associated with the old Soviet Union and so became synonymous with evil. It will likely take decades before that is reversed.

It wasn't socialism, it was communism - in the making - going by the Soviet's own definition. Bernie is a social democrat, who just wants to improve the working people's lives by taking a bit more from the rich through taxes. Not by disowning them.

I have to believe that Clinton's dominance in those polls is a matter of name recognition, and that if your scenario plays out, the gap would narrow appreciably.
