You and those like you.

Shit, I'm over 2000 miles away from you. You don't have to worry about me cleaning my guns and shooting a stray bullet your way.

If you own the means to deal death, you owe it to society to demonstrate your mental soundness.

Mental soundness is of little value in predicting who will go on to abuse or misuse firearms.  You might as well regulate them based on hair color for all the relation it has to what you would want to prevent.

I disagree. I don't think mentally-sound folks resort to firearms to redress perceived injustices, and I don't think mentally-sound folks perceive as many grievances in the first place.

My statement was about want vs. need.

I don't really worry about women with 50 pairs of shoes.

Gun Nuts with an arsenal are very worrisome.

Which has been my point from the start.

Since the owner of the 'arsenal' can shoot one firearm at a time, what exactly is your worry?
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

You've clearly never dated a red-haired woman with an overly suspicious nature...

Actually, they could fire two but they can also call their nutty friends over to help out.

And meanwhile, in the Gun Nut Nation Massacre of the Day:

This shit isn't even news anymore.

Hey there, Gun Nut Nation.   Another school shooting for you to mull over.

Now let's all sing the chorus to the Gun Nut Anthem.

...you would be wrong.  Mentally sound people are 4 out of 10 of our gun death trigger-men.  The unsound ones, the other 6 out of 10, shoot themselves, statistically.  The crazy angle is a giant red herring to keep people bickering and swinging the arm on the political slot machine by fixating on a group that people feel comfortable marginalizing, that people are already wary of. People shoot people because they're angry, not because they're crazy....that's what we find when we investigate. I'm sure their lawyers would beg to differ......but meh.

The kicker to all of this, if they convince us there's a "crazy with a gun" problem..is that they don;t actually have to do anything to fix it. The laws already exist. They can profit until that day...and on that day, claim a victory by pointing to laws which are re-written versions of existing laws....and the absolute dearth of "crazy with a gun" in our gun death stats which is now -and has always been- the case.

Much ado about nothing.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Oh, pleeeeeze! Can anyone with a fair and logical mind really discuss legal mental soundness, by 'Murrica law with a straight face?

Support this statistic with data, please, from a reputable source in the field of psychology. Said data needs to include mental reviews demonstrating the mental soundness of, say, the crackhead who shoots you for your five-dollar bill, the mental soundness of the hitman who takes lives for money, the guy who shoots his friend in a a drunken argument, and so on.
