Rap fans.......what's up?

I didn't see a recent thread about it, so I'd figure I'd make one. Any rap fans on here? I'm actually not a fan of the genre as a whole, but I do appreciate a few rappers. Though I suppose I feel that way about every genre. I respect uniqueness above all in music, so a lot of rap that focuses on clubs, girls, money without an interesting subtext is off my radar. I'm currently going through a Kendrick phase. Kendrick might be the best lyricist I've ever heard in the rap game. He's without a doubt one of the best storytellers in all of music.

Also, Kanye dropped his newest album earlier this week? Anyone listen to it yet? Honestly, I'm not a huge Kanye fan. IMO anything that he is praised for, Kendrick does it just as well if not better.

The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Encore and some but not all later work of Eminem's(also, some of his work with D12).

That about sums up my interest in rap.

Used to listen to rap more when I was younger. Don't like as much as the new stuff, but Eminem, Tupac, Notoriuos BIG, Nas,

Here's some good old school hiphop you may not have heard. I was more of a fan of gangster rap.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Had one of those "Old Guy Wins" moments yesterday. I was driving around with my son, listening to Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life. "Pastime Paradise" came on, and my son said, "Wait, isn't that the Coolio thing, the track for 'Gangsta's Paradise'? I need to get to know more Stevie Wonder!"

Yes, young Grasshopper . . . yes it was and, yes, you do. Now get down on your knees and tremble before the source!
