Why am I not surprised?
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I'm not sure how any country can be a credible military threat, when we have more military spenging than the next dozen countries combined.

Our spending is an exploitable weakness. If we shoot million dollar missiles at paper targets in the desert "terrorist training camps"..it's only a matter of time until they win. Our armored vehicles, with their obscene price tags...despite their warfighting ability, can be taken down with bicycle handlebars, pvc pipe, an electric grill lighter, duct tape, copper wire...and black powder or urine manufactured explosives/incendiaries...and that's getting fancy with it.
The credibility of a threat is assessed on it's ability to inflict damage, not it's spending. The two are related, but not necessary to each other, such is the nature of asymmetric warfare...which is the manner in which wars are being fought, increasingly...and is likely the way of war in future to the complete exclusion of conventional projection of power.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I’m no expert on national security, yet even I would not send classified information through an insecure email account.

Bernie Sanders. I won't vote for Schroedinger's Democrat, not in a primary, not in a general election. And, I haven't eaten enough paint chips to vote for Trump.
