My first year of coaching Little League (1985) in our first game I wanted to move my center fielder over a few steps.  I called out "Mike!  5 steps to the left."  Four kids moved, including the first baseman who moved into foul territory!  Right about then I realized that I had to come up with nicknames for all the Mikes in a big hurry.  I also realized I needed a smarter first baseman.  But I had no Trevors or Hunters or Codys or any of that shit.  I wouldn't have minded a Sebastian.  Anything but another Mike.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

If you call your child "Tucker" I'll judge you even harder than if you call him "Conrad" or "Harvey".

I hate "Alfie" as well, which is a common one you hear British people calling their kids these days. Never been a fan of "Jack", either.

"Kyle" and "Callum" are definitely naughty kid names. Those are names that are shouted across the school playground by teachers "CALLUM! COME HERE, NOW!"

I hope I didn't just alienate half the forum.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

No offense to any Michaels here, as I'm sure there are multiples of them.

But I want a name with a little bit more character. There are a million Michael's.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Try Julian.

Sounds a little feminine...
