Slapping and bed.... that's a dangerous road to go down...
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I buy high performance quad core quad graphics Chinese tablets.
Plenty of ROM updates.

As said, you need to know what you're doing.
You'll probably need some extra software/drivers installed first so the computer can communicate with it properly prior to rooting. Otherwise you'll really root it!
No God, No fear.

I'd like to know what I'm doing. Especially when it comes to electronics. I feel stupid there.

Don't. Everyone feels confused when they do something new for the first time, doesn't mean they're stupid.
If you do want to root your device look for a really good tutorial first.

I'm really thinking I should just take it to someone who knows what they're doing. It would be safer for me and save a lot of headaches.
