Need assistance on answering these, thanks :)
Hi,
I am new to this site so bare with me. ha
I need some much needed help, I am currently in a debate of sorts and he sent me this, I would appreciate any info on how to answer it. I have a few idea's but looking for some guidance. I believe he is hinting at a god behind these things. But since science does not know all.. some cases we do, but saying god is behind it is an extraordinary claim that has no evidence to back it up. So Occam's Razor can come in and take over. But I would like to know about the subjects in question below are answered by science or rather points to science but not known as of yet.
- Cheers
Here it is:
"thank you so much for the complete breakdown of my comments but then all your points still have God filled in gaps you left wide. Tell me, the universe started by accident or external force? Proteins are made from right handed amino acids but the only one simulated in the lab is left-handed,how come? RNA is assembled by accident? Why do onions have longer DNA than highly evolved humans? Has there been any evolved tardigrades? Can a 75 million years old dinosaur soft tissue of collagen and blood vessels be that old?  https://www.theguardian.com/science/2015...-fragments"

This site can be very useful:

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Question: the universe started by accident or external force? Answer: Don't know. Not knowing does not mean therefore god.

Question: Proteins are made from right handed amino acids but the only one simulated in the lab is left-handed,how come? Answer: He is an idiot. Most amino acids are levorotatory. When produced in a lab you get a racemic mixture. https://www.cfa.harvard.edu/~ejchaisson/...chem4.html

Question: RNA is assembled by accident Answer: Don't know. Not knowing does not mean therefore god.

Question: Why do onions have longer DNA than highly evolved humans? Answer: Longer DNA does not mean more functional DNA. http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/2000/02.10/onion.html

Question: Has there been any evolved tardigrades? Can a 75 million years old dinosaur soft tissue of collagen and blood vessels be that old? Answer: Sorry, try google.

Remember, google is your friend.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Note: even if he's able to successfully refute scientific hypotheses / theories, that does not do one thing to advance his own hypotheses. It's not an either/or proposition. He appears to be attempting to shift the burden of proof for his own beliefs.

I sent you a private message James Smile Although I see you figured out how to post your own thread now already!

As others have said, he's not advancing his own position by trying to trash another. It's called the argument from ignorance. He's setting up a false dichotomy where either the current scientific theory explains everything, or else "whatever his explanation is" wins by default. Not the case at all. If he did manage to debunk current theory (not likely) then we would simply have no good explanation. We would then investigate to find a new one. We wouldn't fill the gap of knowledge with magical fairy tales.

He's really just displaying his ignorance. He should go learn more. It's not up to you to educate him on everything he doesn't understand about science.

Tell him to stop going to religious science forums!
Hint: it's not real science... It's disguised as science because everyone knows real science actually works.

I just made a stupid video about this subject (argument from ignorance/trashing opposition) so I'll post it here too.

The moment theists start talking about DNA when offering proof for god, my brain turns off.

Why do they always equate natural processes with accidents.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
