I'd hope so!
Humans are funny with language.

Saw a tanker truck with a big red bumper sticker with large white letters "THIS VEHICLE STOPS AT ALL RAILROAD CROSSINGS"

Well I FUCKING HOPE SO!

What else is it going to say?

"I DO WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT"

Or

"THIS VEHICLE STOPS AD ALL RAILROAD CROSSINGS, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO"

Ya don't say?

The point is that they stop even if there isn't a train.

Again, no shit. Same as looking both ways before crossing the street. They should do that too of course.

Yes, this; at least in America, all busses and certain trucks (those that carry hazardous materials, for instance) are required to stop at all train tracks, open their door or window, and affirmatively check for the approach of a train.  That warning is so people don't slam into the back of them when they stop at a railroad track that hasn't had trains on it in years.

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.

Wait wait wait are you saying you stop before crossing any train tracks?  Because that would be considered highly unusual behavior where I'm from.

Brian, it's a warning to the vehicles behind it - this truck is going to stop, so be careful. They're alerting you to what's going to happen, it's a safety thing.

I've often wondered if maybe making the trucks stop before the RR crossings can go horribly awry if the truck has a manual transmission and the driver manages to kill the motor with the truck actually on the tracks . . .

(I can drive a 10 speed, but I know many who aren't so good at it)
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

But that's part of the reason they stop, I suppose - to make sure a train isn't coming.
