Actually I don’t think he ever fought against the RAF. He mostly served on the eastern front.
My point is that he stayed with an old aircraft because that’s what he was used to. Better, more advanced fighters were available to him but he chose to stay flying a plane that was about 4 years old by that time.

Cool, have you got some more information on Operation Aphrodite or Project Anvil apart from the wiki? I'm searching for specific details on the equipment used to fly these things.

Er, I'm a bit hazy on this one.... Was this the ops involving using old B-17s/B-24 and PBY Cats as flying bombs? If so I think I have a book on that at home.
