It really must suck to be a developer or engineer at his companies, and when you accomplish something cool, the crowd automatically sings "praise the magical Elon, bringer of the cargo!". People watch too much Iron Man.
Musk is a well known micro-manager and all around sharp guy.  By all accounts, he's more involved and knowledgeable regarding the development and production ends than most ceos...but, ultimately, there isn't a single human being alive who knows how to build everything that goes into something as simple as a mouse (a strange but not often recognized fact of modern life), let alone a rocket.

The hero worship sells shitty electric cars that won;t do what they say they can do...operationally, economically, or environmentally, yet....and -that's- what counts, that's the scorecard for a guy with musks job, lol. In that context...he's clearly a hero. Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

He sells vehicles that people proudly have signs in the back window (seen on the 405 FWY when I was a soulless aerospace worker...well, still soulless... that said, "If you use gasoline, you support wars in other countries and massive pollution.". That doesn't account for the fact that the electricity this numpty uses comes from some coal burning power plant in Colorado (as a for instance- my real point is that the carbon emissions have only had their generation point moved). Elon Musk and his employees have done some amazing things. Landing a rocket back on the launch pad has me standing in awe, knowing what that really takes, in terms of engineering capability.

OK, that last paragraph is mine, but I'll be switched if I can find where Rhythm's "end quote" is. Huh  Operator error, I take full credit/blame.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
