The Pet Peeves Thread
RE: The Pet Peeves Thread
People who drive to fast or slow.

People who start a statement out with "so". For example "so I was going to the shops today" why not just say "I was going to the shops today"

Pretentious behaviour, for example people acting rough and working class when they aren't or people acting rich when they aren't

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

You mean posh, right?

I do agree though. It annoys me too.

Gods above, I hate that fucking song.

I always sung that line as, "Take my hand or I'll kill you, I swear..."

Not necessarily. I basically mean the type of people who talk, or have spending behaviour as if they're rich.
I was talking with my cousin once about what car to buy and I remember her saying "we bought a fiat once but it wasn't reliable, that's what happens when you buy French though" and it's hard to explain why but it irritated me because she said it as if she's been through lots of French cars before. Or people in general who buy clothing that's too expensive. They don't have a car or their own property and complain about how much the mother of their child is asking them for but they will buy Ralph Lauren polo tops or Armani. Which is just stupidly overpriced.

Aren't fiat Italian, too? Tongue
edit: confirmed, FIAT = Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino, or Italian Automobiles Factory, Turin, so she's acting rich about something she doesn't even know much about! Tongue

I feel so very UNpeeved right now that I would say at other times one of my biggest peeves is that I can't feel like THIS, ALL the time.

Haha sorry but I just used the name fiat because I could t be bothered to google and research a French car name, I don't remember what car she was talking about to be honest. The sentiment is still the same though, just the way she said "that happens when you buy French" really stuck in my head.

I've mentioned this one before I'm sure.

When people in work want to appear like they have authority so they ask you loudly to do something you were just about to do.

That may be a bit vague so I'll give an example.
I had my hands on a whole bunch of cages with wheels on ready to push them out of the door of a warehouse when another guy shouted , "push the cages outside Paul" all I was thinking was wow I'm glad you told me to push them out because I was about to just sit here and have a wank.

It sounds petty but that happened so much in my old job people trying to get one over on each other. Plus that kind of behaviour is infectious, one person starts then everyone is getting petty with each other
