Dogs and cats are not the same. I think a good scratching post is all you need instead of trimming the claws. If you decide to, be sure to have gauze and anti bacterial cut spray/cream on hand for your arms.

Wet food, preferably a kitten mix.
Give him a while and the dogs should acclimatise to him and no to declawing. It's cruel and extremely painful gor the cat. Cat bed.

I would never declaw a cat. My cat has her claws. She was spayed, and that was as far as I was willing to go.
