To circumcise or not to circumcise?

If that's honestly an issue in a relationship, my advice would be to find someone who isn't so obsessed with the look of your genitals.

I just had another thought, how disgusted would we be if someone came here and asked us whether they should get a labiaplasty for their newborn daughter, because they didn't like the look of her vagina. This is pretty much the same thing with the make gender. It's weird.
Thank you for not comparing circumcision to a clitotectomy, labaiaplasty is a perfect analogy. It takes a whole lot of sensation but not the whole baby.

Yes, I do think it looks better circumcised. I'm sure I'm biased bc that's how my husband looks. I've seen my brothers uncircumcised when they were babies, and I've googled pictures of it uncircumcised out of curiosity. I definitely prefer the former, but I agree it's a personal preference type thing.

Mainly I just want my son (if the baby is a son) to feel comfortable and confident in how it looks... as older kids/teens already tend to be insecure about their changing bodies and their privates to begin with. I don't want to give them a possible reason to be more insecure, and this isn't necessarily with sex, but with using urinals and changing rooms, etc.

...Though it's a moot point because even if I was against it, Brian already said he'd want it done for his son, and being a guy himself I see that as being more his territory to speak than mine lol.

I'm sure some Catholics believe circumcision is a sin. (Actually, I'm sure they do because I've seen them talking about it on Catholic forums.) But officially, it's in the same category as piercings/tattoos or any type of cosmetic procedure. The Church doesn't officially speak for or against those things, but stays silent on the issues as to allow us to use our own judgement and well formed conscience.

...Or they just have no idea what the fuck they're saying about anything so they play dumb Angel

Male and female genital mutilation is frowned upon by the UK National Health service (NHS). Male circumcision is usually not available on the NHS, however there are trusts that will do it even though they consider the risks outweigh any benefits, but they only do so to stop back street circumcisions ....

What?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I feel sick at the thought. I've already read stories of botched circumcisions preformed by medical professionals, I can't imagine the horrors of back street circumcisions. Undecided

The problem with that argument is that curcumcision is already on the decline. Some estimates put the number of babies being circumsized as low as 32%, though most studies seem to suggest it's around 55%. The world your child will grow up in will look a lot different to the one you grew up in.

I mean, I'd argue it's no more his territory than it is yours, and by that I mean it's not either of your territory at all.

What if your son grows up and feels insecure because he is circumcised and the trend has changed by then?

In the 80s, it was all about the biggest bush down there, now the trend is a clean look. What you consider a cool fashion is bound to make the next generation feel embarrassed.

Also these arguments stating how they are lucky to have been circumcized as a baby seem quite pointless coming from someone who has never experienced being uncircumcised. CL, don't make uninformed decisions, especially when it's about someone else, and you might not be able to fix it later if it turns out to be a mistake.

Hell no. If you are going under a knife, it better be for a good health reason. This is even worse than the regular catholic baptism. There is nothing irreversible there, as hocus pocus splashing a baby's face does exactly nothing.

Why?

Because it looks better that way.

Your turn.

Looks better how? You've heard of cases where the penis has been botched because of circumcision?

Plus, in most cases, an erect uncircumcised penis is no different from a circumcised one in terms of look (provided it isn't botched).

Is it only looks you go on to make such an important decision? What about the issue of possible persistent pain, psychological hurt, decreased sexual sensitivity, erection problems due to circumcision, the violation of your child's body?

Bullshit, this isn't about what your son wants. This is about what you want.
