So I'm about to get confirmed

RE: So I'm about to get confirmed
No help here. I've forgotten what the ritual even entails. I know I did it. It had little to no impact.

If possible, go stoned.

Bible Belt crazy is usually protestant. When I was in TX, Catholicism were viewed as a weird not-really-christian sect.

True to an extent -- most in America's South are Protestant -- but here in Texas, the closer you get to the Rio Grande, the higher the proportion of Catholic/Protestant is.

The Baptists still view it as ungodly.

Oh of course! The hispanic population was largely catholic there.

RE: So I'm about to get confirmed
I was raised nominally catholic, but I gave up on my faith before the confirmation and consequently - never learned what that "sacrament" entails. All I needed to find out about it was, that it wasn't required in order to get into high-school (well - any high-school I wanted to go to), that I'd be expected to hand an envelope containing money to the priest and that nobody was going to give me presents, like on my first communion. Even at the tender age of 14 I could tell a waste of time when I saw one.

Mother wasn't too pleased, that I decided to give the whole damn thing a miss, but - at the end of the day - it wasn't the end of the world. If I ever needed to come back to the church, I could just get confirmed then. It's not like catholics are picky about who they let into their fruity club. Tongue

I have worked with a lot of teenagers . . . many from Catholic High Schools in my area.  I don't know how many times, regarding confirmation, I have heard a kid say "Eh, it's all crap.  I'm just doing this to keep my parents happy."  They went through the motions, made the profession of faith, and as soon as they were out of their parents house, stopped going to church.

I was raised Catholic as well, but since none of it made much sense to me I just went through with it to appease my mother at the time. She never bothered me about religion after that, thankfully. So I'd advise you just do it. It means a lot to her, doesn't mean much to you but you get free wine out of it

I'd consider it to be an honor to be excommunicated for doing something perverted with a Jesus biscuit.

Like nibbling it out of a foreskin or something.

Wonder how many priests would take the church proceedings file home for closer examination ??

I think just spreading nutella or stuff like that on the cracker would work... tbh I'd eat that

When I got to the first communion, we then could eat the communion wafer for the first time. Damn thing tasted like nothing and gets stuck on the roof of the mouth.

That is why I became an atheist. Babies taste better Big Grin
