Yeah...you gotta figure by the time the Vandals got there most of the good stuff was gone.

All the bronze and marble of the pantheon were likely still there even after the vandals.  They didn't take anything that were bolted down.

Btw, much of the real vandalism done to the fixed assets of Rome were not done by the Visigoth or the vandals.  It was done by Justinian's troops, who used Rome's marble decorations as ammunition for catapults.

Barbarians can never match the civilized when it comes to delight in the destruction of cultural heritage.

There are different types of stainless steel.  Some really are damn near rust proof and will remain shiny for decades even with exposure to salty air and sea spray.
