Not a patron, because signing up for stuff is hard.
I'm almost old, after all!
I have recently donated, though...Just putting that out there, so no thinks I was just talking shit earlier on in the thread.

I think I donated the first time within the first 2 to 3 months. Couldn't live with the guilt.

I'd have to change the blog address though since the $9 option only secures TLD and www.TLD. Let's Encrypt is a completely free and not for profit Certificate Authority, how great is that!
It's great, but at the moment you have to renew the cert every 3 months, which gets rather annoying.

Also, how on earth were you spending 70 USD a year for an SSL certificate? PositiveSSL were selling them for $9 a year.
Why aren't you using WhoisGuard?
It's an extra expense.

I'm really impressed at the number of members who are donating to defray forum costs. I might have to join and become a Donator too.

Maybe have a drawing amongst the new patrons ??
We could award a tootle of coke or maybe a complimentary double entry in the orifice of choice for the winner.
We'll save the baby meat for an endowment . . .

3 months is nothing. It's much more convenient then going month-to-month. But you are right, people might be willing to pay for the convenience of having a 12 month certificate, but do note the other benefits (such as being able to apply as many domains and subdomains to the certificate as you want!)

It's free with name.com (coupon is 'privacyplease'). But that said it's also a risk - if your registrar goes bankrupt while your domain is private then it'll take your domain with it as you can't prove ownership without them.

BTW, is the impending divorce from Google going to be amicable, or can Tibs be a snot about it if he wants, or if a plurality of the mods/admins deems it is warranted ??
