Atheism addresses the existence of god(s).

It has nothing to say about evolution, except that its adherents don't believe a god zapped everything into existence.

The false dichotomy of creationism versus (theory of) evolution is presented almost exclusively by theists. I don't think I've ever heard an atheist make such an obviously flawed statement.

...Seriously?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Wow...take a few days to get my life right with Pokemon, and this is what shows up?

What if I told you that the Theory of Evolution is not the reason I'm an atheist, nor is the idea of common ancestry? I'm an atheist because the various god hypotheses have not met their burden of proof.

Even if common ancestry and/or the Theory of Evolution were turned on its head tomorrow, that wouldn't help the god hypothesis one bit. The path to atheism is studying religion.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

I'd suggest you learn the scientific context of the word theory. This article should help.

Long story short: facts are observed phenomena, theories are posited explanations for those facts. Evolution has been observed; it is a fact. Evolution by natural selection is by far the strongest theory to explain the observed fact of evolution.

Um...I don't know what you think a "scientific theory" is, but if you believe all the facts concerning gravity and the most reasonable postulated explanation for those facts, then you believe in the Theory of Gravity.

Quote:I can disprove gravity: Binary star systems.

Ummm...what do you think makes binary star systems occur? Do you think inertia does that all by itself, or do you think that some other force is working against inertia to keep those stars from whizzing away from each other? Like, some invisible force that causes sufficiently massive objects to slide toward each other along the warps they make in space-time? There might even be a name for it...really drawing a blank here...

You really are thick, aren't you.

Hint: It's gravity that keeps binary stars orbiting each other.
