Laughed out loud at "Emergency Auxiliary Backup Cat #2". I'm assuming you have a number 1? Possibly number 3?

Have 2 kitties here.
The main or primary cat, and emergency auxiliary backup cat #2.
The main cat is way too smart for his own good. #2 is sharp as liver. Much to my surprise, #2 is much better to have around. #2 actually minds me, #1 is a contrary. #1 has an odd fixation with food ever since his dieting (he went from 27 pounds to 15, much to his horror, he would much rather be a fat cat).

Vorlon knows how to serve tough love!
You're a good man!
But a little selfish when it comes to bacon.

Primary cat fat situation merited a rebuke from the vet. At 24 mos old, primary cat weighed 24 pounds. He went on diet cat food, and in one year put on 3 more pounds.
Sterner measures were called for, so I bought an automatic feeder and dialed him back. It has been a long painful journey for both of us.
I did put Emergency Auxiliary Backup Cat #2 on a timed feeder too, but he is in equilibrium at 15 pounds, so no drama or trauma.
Primary cat, on the other hand, has been a total shit about the whole dieting thing
Neither cat gets bacon, and neither cat cottons to canines; barking on TV sets them both off.
