That is how you produce excellence. Either with pressure from within, or, if you're not able to do it yourself then pressure from outside is required.

Of course I have been teaching for 34 years and have virtuoso students.
IMO the best way to teach is to focus on the individual, the character, temperament, use positive reinforcement and build confidence.
I have seen teachers teach badly, as you describe. They lose their students pretty fast. Mine stay with me for 10 years.
It takes all kinds though.
This recent escapee from TTA forums is on heavy drugs costing $25.000.00 per week. They affect my mind at times. Excuse me if I react out of the norm.
