The mirrors are suspended from elaborate multi-stage pendulums in order to be insulated from the movement of the ground, and enable them to move practically freely along the beam axis which is what matters here.

The arrival of the gravitational wave changes the spacetime metric between the mirrors and the distance between the them as "freely falling " test masses changes instantaneously. The mirrors are not screwed tightly, we've shown you enough links and info now. What is so hard to understand?

Besides the info you provided, he also makes the 110% non-sequitur leap from 'the mirrors are screwed in' to 'that means the true god exists'. Because of course he has to ignore all the Christians who believe in both God and gravitational waves.
