He admits quite frequently to provoking people just to get a reaction out of them, and he says things like, "the Nazis were leftists" because he knows it will get everyone riled up.

Oh, it's one of the rightwing talking points. It's the narrative circulating among his ilk. So I do think that's real. Uninformed real on an imbecile level, but still real.

It's to make them feel better over their own resentments if they can push the Old Ultra brutal to the other side. So as not having to run for the nearest mirror.

That's a pretty narrow construction of a rule that contains the word "overwhelming".  Seems to me that derailing a thread is not the only, much less the worst, negative influence a member can exert on the forum.

Don't you bitchers know how good you have it here? If not, try elsewhere. I don't think you'll find anything comparable. Or set up your own site, something which I am incapable of and not willing to do. My guess is that the bitchers are not either.  

And I'm not saying don't bitch, but for gods sake (there I go) keep it within reason.

One last thing, if you're not donating, as far as I'm concerned, you should be thrilled that the forum exists at all.

Well, seems to me that free speech shouldn't consist of "if you don't like it, leave." What's so wrong with "If you don't like it, speak up"?

I certainly enjoy the forum and the free exchange of ideas it allows. That doesn't mean I like everything about it.

I've never been a fan of love it or leave it rhetoric, especially in this context -- it smacks of paying lip-service to free expression, while at the same time discouraging it.

1. Censorship sucks. 2. Too many loopholes to moderate it effectively even if the majority did want to babysit people. 3. I highly doubt that that is the majority.

Emphasis is on my 2nd point.

So anyways, that's my view.
