A quick word on "Overwhelmingly Negative Influences"

Yep, we mostly are.

Unfortunately being a priest doesn't automatically make someone a decent person.  Sad
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

What are "we" doing? Do you know?

What the priest and the pathologist did has to be against state law. And what of the church elders (deacons, what ever the catholics call them)? They had to have some idea of what was going to occur and did nothing to stop him. Or better yet, once he started, why did no one stop the service?

So, pull tax exempt status, what do you think?

Deacons report to Priests. Any censure has to come from a Bishop. Of course, I don't know all the details, but it seems like there should be some legal repercussions, as well.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

There's a pretty strict hierarchy in the Catholic church and a chain of command - as opposed to any protestant denomination. That's the major gripe I have with the Catholic hierarchy. Not that the numbers of priests doing despicable things would be particularly high, but that they higher ups always try to brush things under the carpet as a first reaction. Be it abuse, be it something like that. Along the lines of what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

That's aiding and abetting in my opinion and that's what pisses me off. There are things demanding immediate action for the general good. But it's always try to preserve our coffers so that noone can make any demands.

Yeah, checked on a web site (patheos?) and saw basically a no comment, foot dragging response.

This is the first true reaction from the catholics that I have seen: http://archny.org/news/a-political-desecration

I wonder how much longer he will be working for the Arch of NY?

Article from the Catholic News Agency. A Father Thomas Petri comments: “The issue here is the dignity of the child that was used, and violating the dignity of his or her body on an altar of God – which is supposed to be used for divine worship. It really is a profane violation,”
