When Did Courtesy And Grace Stop Being A Thing In Politics?
I have never, EVER seen this kind of genuine good will between two such diametrically opposed politicos.

It would be ever so nice to have grown-ups back in politics.

It's been slowly eroding away, but I'd have to say that the real turning point in the U.S. was when we elected a black president. Republican governors even refused to shake his hand when he visited.

Seinfeld says it stopped with Jackie K.O. But we may see it again.

The election of 1800 was in its own way just as ugly ...

I'm surprised you're old enough to remember that one.  Yeah, it got ugly alright.

I would extend the question. When did it go out of fashion entirely?

Just take the subway in the morning and count the times someone bumps into you or tries to run you over because you just don't matter on their way. Count the times someone actually holds the door when you're right behind them and don't let it slam into your face.

People in general don't care anymore. I never was big on manners but there are some things bothering me to no end. The small signs of people caring for each other or even taking note of someone else existing and not just being an obstacle in their way.

That certainly was different some 20 years ago.

Then you are forgetting what the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy put Clinton through.  Bush the Smarter ( also Bush the classier ) understood the civility of the office but the rest of the GOP sleazebuckets did not.  It was also the beginning age of Talk Radio where nazi fucktards got to blast their bullshit to their sorry audience of idiots.
