Whats your favourite book and why?

I've always wondered how people can posit that he's a "horrible" writer in the face of his success and obvious skill. Just because you don't like the content does not mean he isn't good at what he does. I'd wager you have a bookshelf full of pretentious tomes you've only half read with an attitude like that. Wink

You lost the wager.

Whateverist, I think King does deliver deep looks into the human spirit. There's a scene in "Bag of Bones" where the main character is remembering his deceased wife that always make me think of the novel as less of a ghost story and more of a love story between a man and his memories. It was tremendously tender, if lacking in complexity.

Or, perhaps, reading with a different set of eyes.

His characters are much better-wrought than any I've read of yours ... and people are what makes a story move. Just sayin'.

Haven't read them at all then?

No doubt they look smart.

My first porn book was something I got from a store in Dupont Circle.

I just (60 seconds ago) finished the Foundation Trilogy by Asimov, and that's got a solid solid claim to second or third on my list.

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.
