The problem with this deal is that it established a precedent, one that says, "Hey, the government is willing to bend the knee to corporations to save a few jobs." So Trump can boast about the 800 jobs he saved while thousands more still get outsourced and they get millions in tax cuts. Of course it is a good thing that those people are keeping their jobs, but this is bad long term
So what is your solution?
Are you genuinely curious what a better alternative would be, or are you using that as a way to argue in favor of what Trump did? Because you should know that even if I didn't have an alternative to suggest, it would be fallacious to say that's a good reason to make the deal.
But anyway, Carrier is run by United Technologies, and United has received billions of dollars in defense contracts. I think we should start blocking corporations from getting these federal contracts or other types of grants or loans when they outsource significant parts of their company, and we should tax the outsourced products to death (the second half is something Trump himself has actually gone on record supporting.)

I am genuinely interested in how you would keep companies in the US whether it's Carrier or anything else.

I am genuinely interested in why you think it's a good idea to keep companies that far down the value chain in the US.

Which Trump may have threatened.

Yep.
Seems like some people are arguing against this just because they knee-jerk argue against anything proposed by a Republican.

I can answer this. It's because companies provide jobs to people.

Sounds to me as if the only ones taking it up the ass are the citizens of Indiana.

Quote:Indiana agrees to a $7 million tax break to keep Carrier jobs in state: company
Quote:Indiana state officials have agreed to give United Technologies Corp $7 million worth of tax breaks to encourage the company to keep at least 1,069 jobs at its Carrier unit in Indianapolis, Carrier and the state said on Thursday.
Well, fuck them. They voted for those two pieces of shit. Let them subsidize a rich corporation like the rest of the republicunt bastards want.

Thats really nice of you to take care of your mom.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Use my hard earned tax dollars to feed a single mother and child, how dare You!
Use my hard earned tax dollars to subsidize or bribe a corporation who is stull outzourcing over a thousand jobs, into keeping a handful of jobs, instead of forcing them to pay a living wage and taxing the fuck out of them more if they export jobs, here quick, take my money!
Punishing them for exporting jobs is better. I hope Trump keeps that portion of his plan. I guess we'll see.
P.s. you are all wrong, Republicans love wealth redistribution. Take it from the working man and give it to the rich guy, in the hopes he might toss a few pennies at some other working man someday.
