The fake war on Christmas starts again....

RE: The fake war on Christmas starts again....
a 'fake' war on Christmas seems inappropriate for a fake religion

BINGO

Just like if they lived in a Muslim country and ate in public during Ramadan.

Being a Christian majority does not make our country a theocracy.

Again, Jews have 8 days but never bitch when you say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Happy Hanukkah".

But again, the entire idea on a 4 billion year old planet that one day, or one religion is the center of the planet, is absurd.

NO Christians no one should want to physically force you out of existence, your logic of your hero claims is another issue, but no, we are NOT out to get you.

Put the jews in a dominant power position for a while, then try messing with their religion and see if they whine or not.

Religious people are always scared of losing their hold on others and will always play the victim card at the first chance they get. Most here are already used to it, and know that ignoring their whining is the best way to maintain sanity.

Really.  Are big fucking pine trees a big thing in Palestine?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_tree

Quote:A Christmas tree is a decorated tree, usually an evergreen conifer such as spruce, pine, or fir or an artificial tree of similar appearance, associated with the celebration of Christmas. The modern Christmas tree was developed in early modern Germany (where it is today called Weihnachtsbaum or Christbaum) with predecessors that can be traced to the 16th and possibly 15th century, in which devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes.[1][2] It acquired popularity beyond Germany during the second half of the 19th century, at first among the upper classes

How fucking jesus-y.

I can see why the xmas nazis would be upset, though.

Yep that's the definition of a Christmas tree. So just call it what it is. A Christmas tree. I don't care if someone calls it a holiday tree but they're just doing it for uneccessary political correctness.

I'm aware that that tradition of the Christmas tree doesn't go back to the times of Jesus. The tradition of Christmas probably doesn't go back to or have much to do with Jesus these days. I know loads of Muslims who celebrate Christmas the same way I do as an atheist. And they call Christmas trees Christmas trees. Because they're Christmas trees.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

That's all I celebrate Christmas for.  My wife still believes in the birth of Jesus thing, but we don't go apeshit over it.  Nor, since we've had children, do we go to a 2-hour church service late at night or on Christmas morning.  The kids will be totally cranky during the former, and we don't want to interrupt the kids' enjoyment of Christmas morning with the latter.  This year, we plan to all put on pajamas and enjoy Christmas morning at home with just our little family.  We'll have other Christmas get-togethers with family, but I'm looking forward to Christmas morning just being us.

Really when you think about it, it is quite absurd that we should go out, get a tree, bring it into the house, and hang decorations and lights on it for a month.

1 Corinthians 11:24/25

24. And when he had given thanks, he brake the branch, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my sap: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Actually I haven't heard too much about the supposed "War on Christmas" this year yet. I guess fundie Xtians are OK with Starbucks' current holiday cup.

As far as Christmas trees go, however, the bible specifically forbids them:

Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

I'm doing my part to keep it real. The round up and slaughter of male infants has begun. Lack of funds may restrict this year's celebration to Louisiana (realistically, no farther than Lafayette), but if I can get some coverage on Fox News I might start getting some donations from the faithful for next year's celebration. My five year goal is to accurately commemorate our Lord and Savior's birth by having all males aged two and under killed throughout the Deep South and every December thereafter until His glorious return.

Hang that on your 'holiday trees', haters.

It's more about people refusing to call things what they are and using euphemisms in the name of diversity and tolerance. Like the previous poster said it's a Christmas tree, deal with it. Or like "Holiday Party". Okay dumbass HR department, what holiday are we celebrating?* Look if they want to call Rosh Hashanah a national holiday and give me the day off I 'm all for it. Happy New Year, Tribe!

*(Don't get me wrong. I hate work parties regardless of the pretext. Just give me my end of the year bonus.)
