How to offend people

3.) Believe in traditional values

4.) Believe in God

5.) Love America

Are these things offensive to you? Why do these things offend so many people? I don't care what color you are, I don't care what your opinion is, I don't care what your values are, I don't care what you believe in and I don't care if you love or hate America.

Why are so many people offended by these simple things?

Inspired by a YouTube video

1. Not offensive, obviously

2. Depends on what their opinion is. If their opinion is that I'm a horrible nasty person, then yeah, I'll feel offended lol.

3. Not offensive in the context of what we consider to be traditional values now a days

4. Not offensive, obviously

5. Not offensive. Much the opposite, loving/caring about your country and its people is a positive thing. This doesn't equate to always agreeing with what the country does.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

There's a difference between loving your country and letting blind nationalism get in the way of proper criticism. Of course I'm proud to live here, but there's so much to criticize, and so much we can improve upon.

1. Not offensive.

2. Not personally offensive, but disrespectful imho.

3. Not offensive.

4. Not offensive.

5. Not offensive in and of itself, so long as the context isn't burning down buildings or destroying property.

None of the 5 things Divinitiy mentioned are offensive but they certainly do offend some people. For irrational reasons.

I thought it was:

1- find something that is offensive to people.
2- say it.
3- ???
4- profit!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I agree. Neither are the 5 things the OP posted.

Not being gay is also offensive. You can't openly be a straight manly man anymore. And public servants who'd merely like to professionally specialize on performing straight marriages get persecuted and sued!

RE: How to offend people
There's only two reasons to think people are offended by you being white. A) You're a total idiot. B) You spend too much time on Tumblr or YouTube.

"Traditional values" is just code for "denying LGBT rights."

Oh, I'm sure in a country with a predominately Christian population, where it's even illegal to hold office as an atheist in some places, believers find themselves really persecuted. That's why they're always fighting to take down billboards that dare to question their beliefs.

Nothing wrong with loving America, but I find that the people most likely to prattle about their love for the country think we are above any criticism and can do no wrong. They also tend to be people that think we have the right to trample on the rest of the world for our own benefit.

TL;DR if you think anyone is offended by these things, the problem is you, not everyone else, and that kid in the video is a moron.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
