None of this Sheldon cooper vs Howard wolowitz crap, please. There are engineers here trying not to undermine the foundation of your house or cause your car to explode.

Maybe he was trolling you? All the fossils are fabricated sounds a little like he's messing with you, like older brothers do to younger brothers.

Nah, he means it.

"No evidence" is pretty funny.

I mean, he can say the evidence is flawed or whatever. But no evidence? There's mountains of it.

Edit: Oh wait, you did qualify this, that the evidence is bogus.

If you turn it around and point out what flimsy evidence he's accepting Christianity on... (Mummy told me this book is magic?)

Not much point though. In reality all you can do is wait until he comes to you willing to listen and learn, which may never happen.

MyelinSheath Wrote:He apparently accepts that change has occurred. He's like "I see how dogs have changed over time, but I don't see dogs becoming cats."

If he saw dogs becoming cats, it would overturn the theory of evolution.

However, the feline family has produced species resembling dogs: hyenas.

Nah, he means it.

Get him to go with you to a paleontological dig: he can see the fossils being 'fabricated' in real time.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

It would seem that a number of people have noticed this.  I would also add the it appears that quite a few who practice medicine also fall into the same category.  Which has lead me to ask before, if those in applied sciences are more likely to deny evolution?

He's not going to believe a source coming from an atheist author who he perceives to be "liberal". Francis Collins is about the only scientist I know to point him to as an example of someone who is not an atheist, but who understands and accepts evolution as science understands it. His views on science are totally skewed and messed up. He's a business man and an engineer. He is very opinionated, very good at solving problems, very good at managing money, planning ahead, and coming up with innovative approaches to business and engineering, but he's ignorant as can be about science, and very attached to his own opinions. There simply is no wiggle room there. He thinks he's so smart, and right about everything.

I'll give two predictions for the price of one.

I think my debate with mystical knight and your exchange with your brother are going to be quite similar.

I don't think sending him info will change things.

If he's a genious i can only assume he knows how to access information online possibly better than me and a lot of other people here who know about evolution.

But I'm curious, what did he say about dinosaurs, the HIV virus, the fact that if every extinct animal existed with every living species all at the same time it would be a bit crowded on earth. Were there any nuances to the conversation?

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

There was not really any nuance. He said he believed that "adaptation" had occurred, as if that carried any weight. He's simply ignorant on this topic. I'm done worrying about it. He's a moron in this domain.

How does he think "adaptation" occurred...because unless he's proposing some non-evolutionary process for this "adaptation" then that's that, he doesn't actually have an objection to evolutionary theory, he's simply been told that he does.

If only every argument between brothers could be diffused so simply.
