Just joined the forum a few minutes ago and look forward to participating. Years ago, if somebody asked me religion, I said I was an atheist. But that label only describes what I am not (a theist). It says nothing about all the other things that I am. So I started saying I was an agnostic, but gave that up too because it also only refers to what I'm not.

Today, if somebody asks me about religion or what church I go to, I tell them I'm an existentialist. I don't embrace every principle implied by that term either, but it's probably as close as I'll ever get with words to describing how I prefer to approach life. And you all know that words are only handles to carry the idea of some thing from one person to another--not the thing itself. I'll tell more of my story in that "conversion" forum.

I like telling busybodies I'm a secular humanist. It should make the True Believers among them scream "WITCH!", but so far I haven't evoked that response yet . .
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
