GMOs in Germany

RE: GMOs in Germany
That is just the law that the EU put into effect. The first link was just a statement that GMOs affect biodiversity, not deleteriously I might add.

Just being skeptical here, but how many government bodies can you name that have made laws that are based on popular response and economics rather than sound science?

I don't necessarily think that GMOs are all good, I just think that there are a lot of pseudoscientific claims made about it.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Did the typing tard get the you*** right?

What should be at the top in your opinion?

Depends on what you want to worry about. Chemicals, disease, pollution, radiation.............

Don't mean to scare you but look at the attached. The majority should not be a concern for you, but some may, like mold, c-monoxide, BPA's, radon, formaldehyde, UV rays, herbicides/pesticides ...... for a start. Note that GMO's didn't make the list (not that I found anyway).

Dredging memories from a decade ago the loss of biodiversity found by the study hit the scientific and conservation community here rather hard.

Certainly government decisions are open to lobbying and notoriously so in agriculture and fishing, however I don't remember the government moving so fast to legislate so quickly following a study before.

Thank you, I'll take a look.

Don't get to worked up. You're more likely to fall victim to daily life shit: food poisoning, slip and fall, car accident, kitchen accident, spider/bee, constipation (that might drive you bat shit crazy), .........

Just worried about the next pregnancy. I wouldn't think twice about any of this otherwise.

Understandable. Read over the list, discuss with your MD if you have overt concerns.

Since the original FSEs there have been 2 subsequent trials.
2008 with GMO potatoes that was abandoned after protesters ripped up the crop.
2012-2015 GMO Wheat Link but found no benefit of the crop.

And all the beef, pork and lamb are products of manipulating genes which is essentially GMOing them. So we have been eating GMO things for years. Corn is a good example it has been played around with for years making it more productive and able to withstand certain diseases, insects and a host of other manipulations to make it more useful. The same with wheat and rice among others.
