And let me guess...you're one of the 1% that aren't complete idiots?

Well duh.

As a few others have said, most Americans are stupid beyond belief, and can be talked into just about anything. Shit, look at the statistics, the public doesn't know who their congressmen are, how old the Earth is, can't do basic mathematics, don't believe in evolution or climate change, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Politicians understand that in order to get elected, the public need to be told they are smarter than they really are, and that whatever choices they make are good ones that we can't question at all. This keeps the cycle going indefinitely - since the public never learns from their mistakes, and never feels a sense of shame for bad judgement.

Conservative politicians understand these things well.

The new issue with Democrat politics is electoral science denial . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

A non-issue, a far as I'm concerned.  The problem, the only problem, with democrat politics....is that it's not actually an alternative to republican politics.  It's Republicanism-lite.  The "liberal" democrats, themselves, in the same quadrant of the political spectrum as their "conservative" republican counterparts.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Damn straight.

Democrats don't actually stand for anything other than making money from politics. Republicans also want to profit off of politics, but they also have a philosophy they actually believe in. Policy wise the DNC is just a version of the GOP that isn't radical or retarded. They support most wars initially, support the war on terror, support the war on drugs, support laws against sex work, and until recently they were throwing LGBT's under the bus. Then they allowed the GOP to loot Social Security and Medicare to support tax cuts for the 1%, and they caved on the public option easy as pie. At least for conservatives their party actually stands it's ground, and means what it says; or if they don't, they get thrown out on their ass next election. I think if there's one thing we can learn from conservatives it's how to do politics.

It's long past time to clean house.

-yeah....and their philosophy is making money off politics.

I wouldn't go that far, lol.

They don't stand their ground, or say what they mean -or- get thrown out.  The way they "do politics" is indistinguishable from the way politics is done in the general.  You say whatever the rubes want to hear, and dance with the one that brung ya.

The house -itself- is what's filthy, that it's full of scumbags is to be expected.  You could replace every single person there with someone else and the situation won't improve. That's why the odd semi-decent legislator fails to effect any change.

The population of the USA includes many brilliant engineers, clever designers, savvy business owners, discerning doctors, thoughtful social workers, insightful nurses, skillful mechanics and knowledgable tradesmen...and that's just a start. Even the least educated and disadvantaged can get very clever when money is involved. Despite often contentious deliberations the people in my cooperative can reason quite well about how the the HOA dues get allocated. So, no. I totally disagree with anyone that considers the majority of Americans stupid. We are a resourceful and energetic people.

You seem to fall prey to this one alot.  Being a doctor or a lawyer or an engineer or an accountant or what have you....doesn't make anyone even remotely intelligent where politics (or anything else) is concerned.

We're resourceful and energetic, sure, and also...idiots.
