How are the Cops like where you live?

RE: How are the Cops like where you live?
Most of them are perfectly fine people and professionals. Of course, only the bad ones make it to youtube videos. And even those videos a lot of times are out of context where you don't see the whole story.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Actually there's videos of some really amazing cops.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I was pulled over 2 summers ago for a broken tail light, which I believe was just a pretext for pulling me over. I had an older car that was a little dented and dinged up.
The officer was a younger fellow, probably in his early 30s. He checked my license (clean) and let me off with a warning, not even a ticket. I'm pretty certain I was judged on my light skin, blue eyes and, pardon me for sounding crass, but it was a very hot summer day - over 100F - and I was dressed...appropriately for hot weather.

I didn't choose at that moment to let him know that I'm a godless heathen and that I believe The Man - meaning governmental authorities including the police must always be questioned and kept in check. Smile

There's a LOT of truth in this video:

I've mostly only heard bad things about US cops. For example, I knew someone that went to the US for a visit that got arrested by the cops for wearing a traditional dress, he apparently got beat up in custody too and nobody gave a shit because well he wasn't white. A lot of people need to be informed about their rights. Especially when cops are masters in abusing people that aren't properly aware of their rights. My friend got harassed by a cop and got threatened with jail time because of his haircut. Yup, you heard me right, because of his haircut.

Cops are far away from "heroes" they are made out to be.

Invisible.
"Adulthood is like looking both ways before you cross the road, and then getting hit by an airplane"  - sarcasm_only

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

He wasn't suspected of doing anything else?

I'm not going to say there aren't great cops out there, but I have never had a good run in with the police. Most of those instances I hadn't done anything wrong. I was only naughty on a couple of occasions. Wink

I got arrested for knocking someone out who threatened me with a knife. That guy was taken to hospital in an ambulance with no police escort and I was taken to the cells. I now simply refuse to talk to any officer that approaches me. I'll talk to them if I need to, otherwise, they can let me to get on with my day.

So, you start with a bad attitude and don't want any trouble. Gotcha.
