Flashes.

Life is a mere rain came down to soak plants for a tiny period, one that is followed by an autumn; it only matters for the heart to flash well enough to see that.

It always amuses me how faith is seen as the righteous path, as a virtue, as something to be desired....

Faith is pretending to know.
Thank you, but I'd rather not pretend. I want to know. Really know.
Thus far, given the accumulated human knowledge, nobody knows anything about any god... all pseudo-knowledge about the gods comes from faith...
Hardly a trustworthy source of information...
So, thank you, but no thank you...

Faith is not a virtue, it's a mechanism of self-delusion.
A self-delusion that must be justified, somehow... so, how better than to make it a virtue?

Faith is about placing your trust in someone or something even though you lack complete certainty. You express your faith every time you drive over a bridge, trusting that it was engineered properly.

Now try driving over a bridge that someone told you is there, but for which only ever gives logical arguments, platitudes and testimony of personal experience of it in lieu of actual supporting evidence. How strong would faith have to be to make that work?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

But religious faith is believing because it feels good despite any evidence to the contrary.

Never challenge me if you can.t take the consequences...

Believe me. Venus herself fears my presence, so what consequences would accompany your advent, O Valkyrie of the northern realm? peace of cookie -I want to say peace of cake in a cool way; so I replace cake with cookie. Ha  ha    ha.-.

Quote:I'm already aware of how shitty life is. It looks like I don't need religion. That was easy.

Religion is how one should deal with life. Everybody person has a code to live; let it be human experience documented through the ages or a book claimed to be of non-human origin.

Religion is just the book of law against this life, it's a protective shield against the bad of this world.

But you actually know; what you doubt is enough for me.
The signs are just too many. Too too many, they never end with watching the skies, they don't also end with watching what's on earth.

'Argument from design', acknowledging the design is a fine first step though.

I would call it a strong message. Thousands of years, and the echo of theism still rings.
Something is out there.

Quote:Hardly a trustworthy source of information...

But humans are known to say that to any source that says what they don't like; take the bully kids in school who used to torture Teacher "pants-on-board" for not having being bald. But they truly just hated him for teaching Biology.

Quote:So, thank you, but no thank you...

You're welcome.

Aren't video games are?
Movies?
The shelves stacked with novels?
Love stories of the princesses and the vampire prince, making out in the mist?
Mermaids ?
The American Dream?
The Chinese National Anthem?
The British "long live the Queen"?

Humans love delusion. They even call it "fantasy".
There's even a known verb: "fantasizing".

Faith can't be distinguished from other fantasies; but a believer would say "I woke up and there was just too much that keeps pushing me back into the fantasy. Looks like it's not a fantasy; this is a reality !"

Neo-Scholastic

Yes ! you too do it everyday; sleeping and expecting the morning to come.
Isn't that faith in a bridge?

Stimbo

Your eyes should do the finding out for you; we don't "hear" about the sun shining or the moon rising. God is that honest, we see it by our own eyes.

Since religion only seemed to make my life worse, I'll deal with the shit of life much better without it.

Expectations were the problem; not religions itself, I bet you not.
God will not come down of heaven riding a golden calf to wipe the tears of your sad week, angles would also not come flying to scare your enemies.

So the disaster happens. One thinks that a day or two in obedience to what the deity said, would rain flowers from the sky. But that doesn't happen. Instead, a bigger disaster might come. Religion then becomes a tag-team with misery.

God is merciful. But he created pain itself. He's not a Zues or a Gaia. He is God. Religion can be hard. Especially if dicks hijacked it through Islamic and Christian and Jewish medieval churches; religious cartels.

It's all about patience. It takes lots to learn that. But thank God, life isn't eternal.

I never said anything about expectations. Projecting much? I think two decades was enough for my patience. I'm not going to waste the rest of my life on woo that made me more suicidal than I've ever been. It will end up being a very short life.
