My fear if that happens is all the lingering sickness and death that follows, for millenia. That someone like this can ascend to that kind of power via the US' electoral process is a condemnation on the true abilities of the human race. Maybe the planet's life can survive it, perhaps not. But we ought to at least be able curb this kind of stupidity. Throwing turds out of a tree at an enemy is one thing, but this deeply affects every living being on the planet.

I would modify your statement, "That someone like this can ascend to that kind of power via the US' electoral process is a condemnation on the true abilities of the human race" to, "That someone like this can ascend to that kind of power via the US' electoral process is a condemnation of the US electoral process."

Something like this shouldn't be possible. We have a man with the maturity of a 5-year-old in charge of the world's most powerful military. We seriously need to modify our electoral process and that means getting rid of the antiquated electoral college. That system served a point in the early USA and showed a bit of foresight at the time but that point is obviously long since obsolete and downright dangerous.

The USA was absolutely world-changing at its inception. It changed the world for the bettor for a long time but it is broken for this era. This country needs to change in a major way to stay relevant. Trump is not making America great again. He is leading us down the road to obsolescence. The fucking fool (and his idiot supporters) have no concept of adapting to CURRENT conditions. Such morons are evolutionary dead-ends. Now they are in charge. They are proof that the USA electoral process is broken. Hopefully, the rest of the world will pick up the slack and carry us until we heal ourselves of our current insanity.
